In this section I shall note other projects which I have been involved in that do not fit under any of the other categories of this website.
PrintMeIt.com
PrintMeIt.com is a design and print company that I am currently producing work for. Besides general site maintenance, the projects I have developed include:
- A database driven website design portfolio, integrating with the existing content management system (CMS).
- A promotional pop up on entering the site which can be enabled or disabled and updated through the CMS.
- Improved backend security.
- Blog and latest design integration as sidebar-type widgets.
SKATEBOARD Blog
This is a Wordpress theme I created for up-and-coming UK skateboard blog, SKATEBOARDBlog.co.uk. This theme pushed me to learn CSS layout techniques (as opposed to HTML tables), uses the ColorBox Plugin for jQuery and utilizes my Google Weather PHP class which I describe below.
The idea behind this design was to create a simple, fresh and informative layout for a website which will be at the forefront of skateboard related news in the UK.
Google Weather RSS PHP Class
This is a simple PHP class I wrote whilst learning OOP. It basically uses Google's RSS weather feed to retrieve weather information for a given location. Information received contains the current weather, the forecast for the next three days, temperatures, humidy and a file path to the appropriate weather icon.
This script requires PHP5 with SimpleXML and fopen enabled.
OctoPuss.biz
OctoPuss is a collective formed by myself and Edward Tam in Spring 2010 with the aim of producing fun, mischevous artwork around the theme of cats (and octopi, hence the name). OctoPuss.biz is our online website, via which we intend to sell and advertise our products.
My role within this project is to design, develop and maintain the webstore. Utilizing the osCommerce template, I have modified the design to meet our needs and I am currently integrating our OctoPuss blog with the current design via php. In working on this webstore, I have developed skills in the management of large websites and the editing of such websites.
